It's only Day 4 but clearly this isn't working. I have held its leaves, talked to it, stroked its stems. I have put tomatoes next to it as cheerful company. And all to no avail. I have read books about the intra-psychic lives of plants, consulted an old friend who is a horticulturist and another friend's daughter who loves botany. And still it shows a failure to thrive.
Perhaps the next time I go to Union Square, I should offer the remains up to a community compost heap. It seems to be the best option.
Ultimately, before I hit Union Square, I just tossed Wandering Jew into the regular trash. When I got to Union Square, I purchased an ornamental pepper plant and a pineapple sage. I will try harder with them. You'll be the first to go.
